The world is heavy when you carry what they owe you
I dropped my expectations on the floor
A quiet room is where the truest light will show you
You don't have to chase a shadow anymore
They paint the world in shades of heavy dark and flashing bright
But color only happens in the mind
So before you speak, you've got to listen
And before you write, let it breathe and think
Don't wait for permission
We are standing on the brink
Before you spend, go out and earn it
Before you pray, learn to forgive
Before you quit, you've got to try
Oh, before you die, live
There is no label built of heavy good or evil
The thinking makes it so, or breaks the heart
We rush to hate before we feel the other people
And tear the canvas right before we start
So love your life because the clock is spinning fast
Smile at the mirror, let it go
Before you speak, you've got to listen
And before you write, let it breathe and think
Don't wait for permission
We are standing on the brink
Before you spend, go out and earn it
Before you pray, learn to forgive
Before you quit, you've got to try
Oh, before you die, live
Before you hurt, feel the strike
Before you hate, find the love
Just live for yourself tonight
That is what the soul is dreaming of
Life is too short to be small
Stand up tall
Keep smiling now
Expect nothing at all
Before you die
Just live
